CLAUDINE STOFFEL
The history of our trainers
From Passion to Mentorship
From his childhood, Michel Soutiran dreamt of helicopters and touching the sky. This passion led him, through various challenges, to become the first L39 fighter pilot in France. But Michel wanted more: he wished to share his knowledge and guide future generations of pilots. Together with Marc Chevenement, equally passionate, they founded CEFA, the European Centre for Aeronautical Training. More than just a school, CEFA symbolizes the vision of two pioneers determined to guide future pilots towards their dreams.
“The sky isn’t the limit; it’s just the beginning.”
A Dream Upheld, A Passion Shared
From a young age, Marc Chevenement dreamt of flying. Recognizing this inner flame, his parents made a bold decision: instead of buying a home, they financed his professional pilot training. Thanks to this leap of faith, Marc amassed over 5,000 flight hours, underscoring the depth of his passion and commitment. Feeling the need to share his expertise, he co-founded CEFA with Michel Soutiran and became the center’s chief examiner, overseeing all flight qualifications and training the next generation of flight instructors.
“Each flight is a tribute to their unwavering support.”
From Classroom to Cockpit: a Rapid Ascent in the Aerospace Industry
In 2019, after completing my secondary education (mathematics/natural sciences), I began my CPL(H) double licence training, which took me to Canada for a few months before I returned to Luxembourg to finish it in 2021. I quickly got involved in the school and AOC operations to gain my first operational experiences in the aerospace industry (administrative tasks, mission preparation, aircraft cleaning, ground support for air baptisms, etc.) and to demonstrate my willingness to work and learn.
In early 2022, I was hired by Top Jet Training and Heli-Luxembourg to learn the helicopter pilot job and accumulate flight hours through tourist flights, air baptisms, helicopter setups, etc. Since then, I have made many connections in the industry and have gained qualifications and knowledge that will make me an asset to potential future employers. These qualifications and knowledge are not limited to flying activities, but also include administrative responsibilities, safety and security management, analysis of legislative texts, etc. – qualities sought after by airlines!
Now, I will be able to gradually move towards more specialized aviation activities thanks to the experiences and training I was able to acquire after completing my initial training.
(Currently, I am the youngest, and one of the very few, Luxembourgers to be trained in Luxembourg.)
